UPDATE NOVEMBER 6TH – I guess I will give a post-op now as it might be 2029 before we know the final numbers. As people joke, we can get instant results of voting on American Idol, but not for an American election.
SENATE – Right now it is 54-44 with Alaska and MS not called. But, both are leaning Dem. So, 56-44 is a possibility.
HOUSE – Right now the Dems have 250 Seats. They might achieve 260.
As I told anyone that has asked me since the Summer, this would be a route. What the data didn’t show was it going from a Blue Wave to a Blue Tidal Wave. I have noticed in the last few elections that the winning side accelerates in the last two days. That suggests early voting is not as relevant as people want to make it.
PHRASES FOR THE NEXT 2 YEARS – The end result is the Dems will not get a single thing accomplished. Trump will continue with his agenda, albeit not much left for him to do. We will hear the terms Veto (seen red hats with VETO for sale already….the GOPs retribution for ‘Resist’ by the Dems) and Executive Order (the only way Presidents get anything done anymore) A LOT! The Dems cannot get the 2/3rds needed to override a veto. Maybe on a few issues a dozen Republicans will side with them as there is no longer anything to fear about Trump. The 12-year of influence by Trump will come to a boring 2-year end. Now, the Dems get to know what it is like to get blamed for high grocery prices and the (fake) housing affordability issue. In my life, I have never seen grocery prices go down to any degree. They will try to blame Trump. But, have overwhelming control of Congress and not being able to do a single thing will create extreme unhappiness from their supporters. Oh the fun of being the party in charge:)
Too bad the Presidential candidates for 2028 won’t wait until January 2028 to start campaigning. I am sure the campaigning is already under way:( The most important law we could pass is no political ads in any form until 6 months before an election:)
Regardless of your political views, I just hope you voted. I tell people I care less what the politicians and pundits spout. I don’t complain about what they say. The ONLY way I can influence our future is by voting. And I know how I am voting for the rest of my life. Please always vote. Godspeed.
NOVEMBER 1, 2026 – After getting the Electoral College count exactly right in 2024, I didn’t plan on making anymore forecasts. But, alas, too tempting not to:)
SENATE – I will go with Democrats 53 to Republicans 47. This gives the closes contest (Iowa) to the Republicans. This one is so close I expect a mandatory recount. If the Dems pull this one out, then the final count will be 54-46.
HOUSE – There simply isn’t enough data to ever forecast how this one will turn out. I will go with the Democrats winning 236-238 Seats. There are always an Independent winner or two and a vacancy or two.
This leaves us with a lame duck Federal Government for the next 2 years. Whatever Congress passes that Trump doesn’t like, he will simply Veto it. And the Dems will not have the 2/3 needed to override a Veto. God forbid some bipartisan laws get passed.
